Ford to aim for big splash at leading global motor show

Most people associate the Geneva Motor Show with concept cars, crazy sports models and supercars that make your heart flutter and send forums buzzing.

Playing to its strengths – and reality – Ford is using the platform of the international gathering to demonstrate an altogether more viable option for British motorists looking for cars for sale in the UK: the all-new production-ready B-MAX compact multi-activity vehicle.

Alan Mulally, the chief executive officer (CEO) and president of Ford, is jetting into Switzerland especially for the unveiling of the B-MAX, which aims to set the very highest standards with a unique design and “best-in-class” features, despite it being affordable for families and professionals alike. It follows the release of the company’s concept one year ago in Geneva, which was particularly well-received by critics.

One man involved very directly with the production of the car is Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO of Ford in Europe. He said: “The B-MAX combines an exciting, innovative design with features that only previously have been found in bigger cars. It’s a brand new car that responds to the needs of an increasing number of customers who want much more from their small cars.”

It is designed with larger groups in mind and prompted Ford to completely redesign the construction of its doors. Central pillars – the usual car industry solution to safety and stability – have been integrated into the doors themselves to provide wide-open access for drivers, their passengers and even luggage, without affecting Euro NCAP testing standards.

On top of this, the B-MAX also hopes to provide craftsmanship of the highest level, utilising high-quality materials despite it being an ultimately affordable compact car. This, combined with Ford’s new 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine that delivers 58.9mpg, will be available on the B-MAX alongside the company’s popular Duratorq 1.6 TDCi diesel options.

If you want one, keep your eyes on Swiss developments for more announcements. You should be able to find the Ford B-MAX at Evans Halshaw when it goes on sale in the UK in September, giving you more time to save up and get excited for this fantastic model!
