Toyota began development of a hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle in 1992, introducing the Mirai saloon to world markets in 2014. Now a new generation Mirai is being launched, a car that Toyota says takes FCEV technology to a higher level and offers “more emotional customer appeal in terms of dynamic, contemporary styling and more rewarding driving performance”.
MotorEasy is extending its pioneering electric car warranties to cover degradation of the drive battery. The company was the first to offer extended warranty cover for EVs and is believed to be the only one that is prepared to cover drive battery capacity loss.
Vauxhall is making the switch to electric easier with lower on-the-road prices across the all-electric Corsa-e range, as part of its 2021 model updates to both the Corsa and Corsa-e. Alongside the new on-the-road prices for the new all-electric Corsa-e, the 2021 Corsa and Corsa-e models feature new styling updates, a wider trim selection and new engines for the Corsa.
Ford is introducing a new Ranger chassis cab variant for the first time, providing customers with the ability to create bespoke vehicles based on Europe’s best-selling pick-up. The Ranger chassis cab uses a body-on-frame construction, creating a tough donor vehicle that maximises the range of potential conversion options.
The new updated Toyota Hilux reaps the benefits of suspension and steering revisions and the availability of a new, automatic limited-slip differential that improve its on-road ride and handling and its off-road controllability. The Hilux retains its body-on-frame construction, a design now rare in its segment. Toyota says the ladder frame chassis is both highly durable and gives the Hilux the torsional rigidity to deal with the most severe twisting forces when driving over rough terrain.
