Winter tyres approved for Land Rover Freelander 2 and Range Rover Sport

The outstanding performance of Continental’s winter tyres has been underlined by new approvals from Land Rover on the Freelander and Range Rover Sport. Continental, Europe’s leading winter tyre manufacturer, has been approved in sizes; 235/55R19 105H for the Land Rover Freelander and 275/40R20 106V for the Range Rover Sport.

Before a tyre is approved by Land Rover, engineers test that it will be compatible with the vehicles systems to ensure that the driver gets maximum traction on and off road and the safety and stability is optimised in both wet and dry conditions.Land Rover’s chassis experts only approve winter tyres offering an optimum mix of agile performance and good grip on wintry roads in the cold season.

Land Rover has chosen the ContiCrossContact Winter, a perfect winter tyre for 4×4 and SUV vehicles. Winter tyres are designed specifically for use during the winter months and become effective when temperatures drop below 7ºC, the advanced silica compound gives excellent traction and braking performance on cold, frosty/icy and even wet winter roads. On the ContiCrossContact Winter wide circumferential tread grooves give high protection against aquaplaning and its low rolling resistance ensures economical fuel consumption.

Being approved for winter tyre replacement fitments by Land Rover demonstrates Continental’s success in tyre engineering and development to support both original equipment and replacement market requirements. The company makes tyres for one in three cars produced in Europe, and is also a supplier to vehicle manufacturers in the U.S. and Asia.
