Volkswagen starts production of ID.4 electric SUV

Series production of Volkswagen’s first all-electric SUV, the ID.4, gets under way in Zwickau. The world premiere of the ID.4 follows at the end of September. The brand expects to produce 1.5 million electric cars in 2025.

VW and Tesco instal Pod Point chargers at 200 stores

The UK’s largest free retail charging network for electric vehicles has so far given away enough renewable energy to power the homes of almost 130,000 people. Volkswagen, Tesco and Pod Point teamed up to provide the largest free retail charging network for electric vehicle (EV) owners across the UK. The partnership has now hit the landmark 200th store after four EV points were installed at the Tesco superstore in Chester.

Volkswagen Tiguan gets plug-in option

Volkswagen is showcasing a comprehensive update of the best-selling Tiguan. Ralf Brandstätter who has been appointed the new CEO of the Volkswagen brand: “We launched our global SUV strategy with the second-generation Tiguan in 2016. It served as the basis for many successful models worldwide. Volkswagen is now taking the next step by electrifying, digitalising and networking the new Tiguan. This will equip the compact SUV to handle the challenges of the modern era.”

ICE age ends at VW’s Zwickau plant

The last model with a combustion engine has left the assembly line at the Zwickau car factory. The seventh-generation Golf R Estate with 2.0-litre petrol engine in Oryx White Pearl Effect was produced for a customer in Germany. From today on, only electric models of Volkswagen and in future also of the sister brands Audi and Seat will be produced in Zwickau.
