The Mazda6 is one of the best kept secrets in motoring, with handsome looks, excellent handling and superb diesel engines. Mazda’s ‘rightsizing’ approach to engine design sees a big 2.2-litre diesel fitted under the bonnet, with clever engineering and weight savings that allows the 148bhp version to return up to 69mpg.
The new 2018 Mazda6 has been awarded the maximum five star rating by Euro NCAP in its latest series of tests. This is the first Mazda to achieve an overall five star rating under the new, more stringent 2018 Euro NCAP crashworthiness ratings.
Mazda has announced UK pricing and specification for both the Saloon and Tourer versions of its flagship model. Featuring an upgraded cabin, revised styling and enhanced technology, plus the UK debut of Mazda’s cylinder deactivation SKYACTIV-G 2.5-litre petrol engine, the updated Mazda6 also sees the popular SKYACTIV-D 2.2-litre diesel engine benefit from a power upgrade to 181 bhp.
Mazda UK is reporting that it achieved more than 19,000 fleet sales in 2015 – a 22 per cent year-on-year increase. Now it is hoping the new 99g/km diesel-engined Mazda3 1.5 SKYACTIV-D will further strengthen its position in this market in 2016
