Kia readies 48V diesel mild hybrid powertrain

Kia Motors will introduce its first 48V diesel mild-hybrid powertrain in the second half of 2018. The new ‘EcoDynamics+’ powertrain reduces CO2 emissions by supplementing acceleration with electric power from an additional 48-volt battery and extending combustion engine ‘off time’ using a new Mild-Hybrid Starter-Generator unit. Kia says the compact nature of the components means the technology can be integrated into existing vehicle and powertrain architectures without impacting practicality or packaging.

Kia unveils all-electric Niro EV

Kia has unveiled a new all-electric version of Niro at the 5th International Electric Vehicle Expo in Jeju, Korea. Due to receive its global debut at the Paris Motor Show in September, the sporty and versatile Niro EV is said by Kia to combine driving enjoyment with eye-catching design and functional utility.

Kia servicing packages now up to seven years long

Kia Motors (UK) Limited is up-grading and extending its service plans for owners. Since 16 April 2018 the newly launched ‘Kia Care’ service plans – replacing the Care-3 service plans launched seven years ago – have been available across all of its dealerships. Re-named ‘Kia Care’ they have been developed to provide customers with a wide range of service plan options for any Kia model within the first seven years of the vehicles life – matching its industry-leading seven-year warranty.

Kia makes three-millionth car in Europe

Kia Motors has manufactured its three millionth car in Europe since production began in Žilina, Slovakia in 2006. The three millionth car to roll off the production line is a Kia cee’d. The car is a fusion white five-door hatchback in ‘GT-Line’ specification, built for a customer in Iceland. It is fitted with a 1.0-litre T-GDi (Turbo Gasoline-Direct injection) engine.

Kia unveils third generation Ceed models

The third-generation Ceed and Ceed Sportswagon took centre stage at the Kia stand at the Geneva Motor Show this year. The models will go on sale later this year in five-door hatchback and Sportswagon guise and Kia is confident they will increase the Korean company’s presence in the European C-segment with innovative new technologies, a mature and athletic design, and a more engaging drive.
