SsangYong boosts diesel commercial line-up

SsangYong_Rexton_CSE_LCV_(3)SsangYong has boosted its diesel line-up in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) sector with an upgraded Euro 6 2.2-litre engine for the Rexton and Korando CSE vans.

Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK said: “Priced at only £19,495 (ex VAT), the new 2.2 litre powered Rexton CSE has an almost unrivalled position in the LCV sector.

“Built on a ladder chassis, it is a serious off-roader yet with all the equipment and comfort you expect to find in a SsangYong and at such an amazing price point. Not only do you get a lot of vehicle for the money but also the reassurance of an industry-leading 5 year limitless mileage warranty for complete peace of mind.”

In the Rexton 2.2 CSE, which is based on the Rexton 2.2 SE in terms of equipment levels, the newly developed e-XDi220 turbo diesel engine achieves more powerful performance and lower CO2 emissions at the same time. Maximum power is increased to 176 bhp and torque to 295 lb ft, with maximum torque being delivered from a low of 1,400rpm and maintained through a wide range up to 2,800rpm. CO2 emissions have been reduced to 184g/km, while fuel economy is also improved to up to 40.4mpg (Combined cycle).

There’s a completely flat load area accessed via a high lifting tailgate and two side doors, and packing a useful 2.2 cubic metre load volume. The Rexton CSE has a load deck length of 1,700cm, and measures 107cm between the wheel arches. It also carries 740kg, and can tow a 3 tonne trailer.

SsangYong_Korando_CSE_LCV_2)In the smaller Korando, the same power and torque outputs for the new 2.2-litre diesel represent improvements of 19.4 and 11 per cent respectively over the previous Euro 5 diesel 2.0 litre engine.

CO2 emissions have been reduced to 139g/km, down from 147g/km on the previous two-wheel drive, manual transmission Korando, while fuel economy of up to 53.3 mpg (Combined cycle) for the 2-wheel drive manual compares with 47.1mpg on the model it replaces.

“This is a significant advance for our LCV range,” says Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK. “The power upgrade brings greater refinement, while Korando continues to deliver unrivaled levels of equipment and value, while no other brand offers the light van operator such a comprehensive warranty for complete peace of mind.”

“SsangYong has a growing reputation for producing extremely competent off-road vehicles, and the new Korando Commercial builds on this pedigree. It’s an honest, reliable and highly capable LCV, and pound for pound will outclass many more expensive rivals,” concludes Mr Williams.

Korando LCV prices start at £13,995 (ex VAT) for the two wheel drive CSE model and £15,295 (ex VAT) for the CSE 4×4.
