Having had a Ford C-MAX for my last four Motability cars, I need to decide which of the following alternative diesel cars you would recommend? I need comfort, good fuel economy, and ease of getting in and out of the vehicle. I have picked out the following: CitroÎn C4 Picasso, Ford Kuga and Renault Kadjar, or another C-MAX? I would be thankful for any information.

Thanks for your letter Barbara. Of the choices you offered, I would go for the Renault Kadjar, but for the best comfort I would make sure that you go for a specification Dynamique Nav, or the lower, specification Expression+, which come with 17- or 16-inch wheels, respectively, and which ride more comfortably than the 19-inch wheels on the higher trim levels. Also, stick with the 1.5-litre dCi 110 engine, which is adequately quick, and more economical and quieter than the 1.6-litre dCi 130. If, by any chance, you are looking at an automatic, you should let me know, because it might change some of the comments that I have made.

Having had a quick look at the Motability website, I can see that Ford are trying hard to get Motability users into Kugas by offering very good deals; if cost is critical, I would certainly consider the Kuga, but do take a good test drive of one first.
