Full UK pricing and specifications have been announced for the Renault ZOE Z.E.40, with range of up to 250 miles, and costing from £23,445 after the Plug-in Car Grant. It forms part of a wider refresh, which includes a new trim level and subtle styling makeover.
Unveiled at the Paris motor show, Renault claims the Z.E.40 will have a real-world range of between 186 miles in mild weather and 124 miles in very cold conditions, while its official 250-mile NEDC range is the highest of a mass-market electric car.
The new battery pack will be offered alongside the existing 22kW battery in all but the entry-level Expression trim and comes with an optional ‘Quick Charge’ facility. Costing £750, ‘Quick Charge’ allows an 80 per cent top-up of the batteries in just over an hour. All private customers buying a ZOE are offered a fully-installed 7kW charger at their home (taking three to four hours for a full charge) and the option to buy or lease the ZOE’s battery pack.
Three new colours called ‘Mars Red’, ‘Titanium Grey’ and ‘Ytrium Grey’ will help the 2017 ZOE stand out, with the last colour only available with the top trim. Other subtle tweaks include badges switched from blue to chrome and new alloy wheel designs.
A new range-topping Signature Nav trim level adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a rear parking camera, 16-inch alloy wheels, driver’s seat lumbar adjustment and a seven-speaker BOSE sound system.
ZOE prices for customers leasing the battery pack start from £13,995 for the Expression 22kW and £17,845 for the Dynamique Nav Z.E.40 (after the PiCG), with the 22kW battery lease costing between £49 and £89 per month (depending on your annual mileage), with the 41kW battery costing £59 to £110 for unlimited annual mileage.
Alternatively, you can buy the car and battery pack outright, from £18,995 for the Expression 22kW and £23,445 for the Dynamique Nav Z.E.40 (after the PiCG). The range-topping Signature Nav Z.E.40 costs from £26,245 after the Plug-in Car Grant.
Owners will also have a new Z.E. Trip app to look forward to in 2017, which maps public charging points across Europe and can be accessed via the R-LINK infotainment system. Not only that, but the app should tell you if the charging point is suitable and whether it’s in use. Z.E. Pass will also arrive in 2017, letting drivers pay at charging points using a smartphone or RFID badge.
The ZOE Z.E.40 is available to order from today, with first deliveries expected in January.
