Fiat has introduced an updated version of the Fiat 500 diesel.
The 1.3-litre MultiJet II turbodiesel engine produces 94 BHP and 146 lb/ft of torque from just 1,500 rpm. Advanced efficiency technologies include a variable geometry turbo charger, a smart alternator, rapid engine warm-up, variable oil pump displacement and Start & Stop.
Cars fitted with the second-generation MultiJet can accelerate to 62 mph from standstill in just 10.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 112mph, while its advanced efficiency technologies combine to reduce running costs and improve eco-friendliness. Official combined cycle fuel economy is 83.1 mpg and CO2 emissions are 89 g/km.
Available in Pop Star and Lounge trim levels, the Fiat 500 1.3 MultiJet II is priced from £14,166 for the hardtop 500 Pop Star and £16,815 for the convertible 500C Pop Star.

Prompted by the Volkswagen emissions scandal, the French government commissioned a test which in 2016 found many cars not complying with the intention of the emission laws. The Fiat 500X was measured as the worst offender having a NOx emission level of 1.35 g/km, 17 times the Euro 6 limit of 80 mg/km.
