The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Juro has been announced, building on the specification of the GX3h+ with additional kit, but costing the same £32,749 after the Government’s Plug-in Car Grant is deducted.
With a touchscreen infotainment system, TomTom navigation, smartphone connectivity, DAB radio and a new bonnet emblem, the Juro limited edition is likely to be a ‘no-brainer’ for anyone considering the model it’s based on. Arriving in early November, the Juro also adds Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.
Mitsubishi will be hoping it keeps the Outlander PHEV’s sales momentum high as the model sails past the 25,000 customer landmark in the UK. Since first going on sale, the Outlander has accounted for around half of all plug-in hybrids registered in the UK from 2010.
There has been an impressive surge in the marketplace, with registered plug-in hybrid vehicles increasing from 2,770 in the UK in May 2014 to over 10,000 by the end of the same year. By the end of 2015 a total of 13 plug-in hybrid vehicles were on sale in the UK, with total registrations up to 19,000 and 11,618 accounted for by the Outlander PHEV.
Lance Bradley, MD of Mitsubishi Motors UK, said: “We’re extremely proud of the role the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has played in building awareness and acceptance of electrically-powered vehicles in the UK and thanks to its unmatched combination of practicality, ease-of-use, elegant styling and low running costs, we are confident of maintaining our market-leading position well into the future.”
Significant changes to the Government’s Plug-in Car Grant in March 2016 meant the Outlander PHEV went from qualifying for a £5,000 grant, to being classed as a ‘Category 2’ vehicle, qualifying for a £2,500 contribution towards its full price. However, Mitsubishi has introduced new deals, including a £2,500 deposit contribution and zero per cent finance for qualifying customers, along with free supply and installation of a 3.6kW Chargemaster Homecharge wall unit.
