Mitsubishi has reported that sales of its vehicles in the UK in February were up 28 per cent compared with the same month last year, according to figures released by the SMMT. The rise was driven by a 41 per cent increase in sales of the Outlander PHEV, ahead of the reduction in the Plug-in Car Grant from £5,000 to £2,500, which came in at the beginning of March. The Outlander PHEV continues to lead the hybrid and electric car sector in 2016.
The Mitsubishi brand out-performed the market overall, which increased in February 2016 by 8 per cent. Mitsubishi says it has been the UK’s fastest growing mainstream car brand for three straight years.
