Diesel&EcoCar magazine is very pleased to announce the winners in the EcoCar Electrified Top 50 awards for 2025, championing the very best electric cars, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, mild hybrids, and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles on-sale today. Now in its fourth year as standalone awards, the Electrified Top 50 captures the latest advances in zero- and low-emissions motoring, highlighting the models that offer the best blend of innovation, efficiency, performance, and affordability, as well as a strong ownership package.
Over the past 12 months, our dedicated team of judges and writers have robustly tested more than 200 new cars, each assessed with the target buyer in mind. To be eligible for inclusion in the EcoCar Electrified Top 50, vehicles must be powered by an electric, hybrid, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or hydrogen fuel-cell drivetrain, and available to see and buy in UK showrooms by the mid-year awards deadline.
This year, the standout trend is the remarkable rise in affordable electric models. From under-£25k city cars to family-friendly crossovers, buyers are now spoilt for choice. Battery technology has improved, maximum ranges have crept upwards, and charging networks have become more dependable, making the switch to electric more viable than ever.
When crafting the EcoCar Electrified Top 50 awards, the team wanted to elevate them beyond the usual ‘run-of-the-mill’ award ceremonies. Our approach is devoid of expensive, outlandish events, with the results unaffected by advertising spend. The results are derived from our comprehensive scoring system that evaluates every important aspect of the vehicle, to make sure that every category winner truly excels in its segment.
