Mazda starts production of all-electric MX-30

On the 19th May 2020, Mazda began production of the all-new Mazda MX-30, the company’s first all-electric vehicle, at Ujina plant No. 1 in Hiroshima, Japan. The new MX-30 is equipped with e-Skyactiv – Mazda’s new electric drive technology. The front-wheel-drive powertrain combines a 107kW AC synchronous electric motor with a 35.5kWh lithium-ion battery, equipping the new SUV with a driving range of approximately 200km, or about 120 miles (WLTP combined).
Range Rover production restarts at Solihull under social distancing rules

The first Range Rover made under new social distancing measures has left the production line at Jaguar Land Rover’s manufacturing plant in Solihull, following the recent temporary pause in production due to the coronavirus pandemic. The company says that effective social distancing, hygiene and health monitoring measures are in place following an extensive review of all production lines, engineering facilities, office areas and communal spaces as the company starts a phased return to manufacturing. With the implementation of the new protocol, staff will experience a significant number of changes to their working day from the moment they enter the site.
Mitsubishi and OVO team up for 10,000 “free green miles” offer

Customers who purchase a new Mitsibishi Outlander PHEV can now enjoy 10,000 miles of free, green, electric motoring provided by OVO Energy. By purchasing a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV via the Mitsubishi Buy Online portal, with a reduced deposit of £99 and free home delivery (and trade-in collection) worth £100, customers are being offered 10,000 miles of electric motoring if they switch their domestic supply to OVO Energy’s EV Everywhere bundle. The offer is available to retail and business customers who order and register a new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV between May 18 and September 30, 2020.
Debut for Volkswagen ABT eTransporter 6.1 electric van

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched its first fully electric van in the UK with prices for the zero-emission ABT eTransporter 6.1 starting from £42,060 (exc. VAT). Developed in collaboration with partner ABT e-Line, the ABT eTransporter 6.1 is claimed to “combine quiet and smooth driving, instant torque, fast charging and high load capacity for the ultimate zero-emissions urban logistics van”. The model offers an all-electric range of up to 82 miles with a cargo space of 6.7m3. Flexible charging options allow for 80 per cent charge in just 45 minutes.
2020 update for the SsangYong Tivoli

SsangYong Motors UK is introducing the new 20-model year SsangYong Tivoli into the UK market. The Tivoli facelift boasts new exterior front styling. It “pairs new stylish exterior and interior design with advanced safety and infotainment technologies, as well as efficient new powertrains complying with future emission standards”.
