Aiways ships first electric SUVs from China to Europe

Aiways has started the first overseas shipment of its U5 all-electric SUV, with 500 models leaving the company’s manufacturing facility in Shangrao, China. The cars will arrive at the French island of Corsica next month. Residents and tourists on the island will be the first consumers in Europe to experience the Aiways U5, which will be available to rent from Hertz Corsica, operated by local company Filippi Auto. With this shipment, Aiways becomes the first Chinese startup to deliver EVs to the European Union (EU).

Order books now open for the updated Citroën C3

The new Citroën C3 is now available to order in the UK, with prices starting from just £19,730 for diesel models and first customer deliveries expected in August. The new Citroën C3 is now the brand’s most customisable hatchback, with up to 97 different exterior combinations. The latest model C3 features a revised front-end showcasing Citroën’s new design language inspired by the CXPERIENCE Concept. Measuring 3.99m long, 1.75m wide and 1.47m tall, New C3 also gains LED lighting at the front, new 17-inch alloy wheels and fresh Airbump designs.

Peugeot unveils electric e-Traveller

Continuing with its philosophy of offering customers the ‘power of choice’, Peugeot is introduces the all-electric e-Traveller. The e-Traveller has: a range of up to 143 miles (230km) WLTP with a 50kWh battery capacity, two body lengths and up to eight seats.

Beefy new 2.8 diesel spearheads Toyota Hilux upgrades

Toyota is renewing its Hilux pick-up with design changes, a powerful 2.8-litre powertrain, improvements in on and off-road driving performance and equipment upgrades. Toyota says that these changes “strengthen its appeal to the growing market for customers who need a vehicle that’s right for both business and leisure”.

Taxi-maker LEVC prepares to re-start production

London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) begins a phased return to work on the 8th June at its Ansty manufacturing facility. As the company re-starts production of its TX electric taxi and moves into the next prototype phase of VN5 electric van build, a new way of working has been implemented at Ansty.
