Kia goes hybrid at the Chicago Auto Show

Kia Motors has unveiled a number of hybrid-based models at the Chicago Auto Show. One key component of the company’s Green Car Roadmap unveiled at the show was the all-new 2017 Niro compact Hybrid Utility Vehicle (HUV). Also unveiled: a plug-in hybrid Optima and an updated version of the standard Optima hybrid.

SsangYong extends its range at Geneva

SsangYong is giving a clearer picture of how its future range will shape up at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The Tivoli range will be extended with an increased-capacity version called the XLV, while the mild hybrid SIV-2 concept will hint at a future midsize contemporary multi-purpose crossover.

First Astra Sports Tourer off the line is a diesel

The first new-generation Astra Sports Tourer has rolled off the line at Vauxhall/Opel’s Ellesmere Port production line in Cheshire. The first vehicle was an Elite 1.6CDTi in Flip Chip Silver.

Mercedes unveils its first aluminium diesel four

Mercedes has been releasing more details about the OM654, its first all-aluminium four cylinder diesel engine. The new power unit will appear in the next E 220 d in the spring.

GM to bring all-electric Ampera-e to Europe

Vauxhall’s parent Opel has announced that a version of the US-market all-electric Chevrolet Bolt will be coming to Europe as the Opel Ampera-e.
