Nissan has announced the retail launch of its integrated home energy solution, Nissan Energy Solar. UK customers can now optimise the way their properties create, store and consume energy via the use of integrated solar panels, battery storage (xStorage Home) and a home energy management system.

Hybrids squeeze out diesels on next Volvo S60 range

The new Volvo S60 saloon – to be launched later this spring – will be the first Volvo to be produced without a diesel engine, highlighting Volvo Cars’ commitment to a long-term future beyond the traditional combustion engine. All new Volvo models launched from 2019 will be available as either a mild petrol hybrid, plug-in petrol hybrid or battery electric vehicle. This is the most comprehensive electrification strategy in the car industry and Volvo Cars was the first traditional car maker to commit to all-out electrification in July 2017.
Kia readies 48V diesel mild hybrid powertrain

Kia Motors will introduce its first 48V diesel mild-hybrid powertrain in the second half of 2018. The new ‘EcoDynamics+’ powertrain reduces CO2 emissions by supplementing acceleration with electric power from an additional 48-volt battery and extending combustion engine ‘off time’ using a new Mild-Hybrid Starter-Generator unit. Kia says the compact nature of the components means the technology can be integrated into existing vehicle and powertrain architectures without impacting practicality or packaging.
Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV tops plug-in sales charts

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is once again the UK’s best-selling plug-in electrified vehicle. Sales of Mitsubishi Motors’ petrol/electric plug-in hybrid SUV totalled 476 units in April and 2,695 units for the period January to April 2018, ahead of every other pure EV and plug-in hybrid on the market.
