Toyota starts making hybrid transaxles in Europe

Toyota has started production of hybrid electric transaxles at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland’s Wałbrzych (TMMP) plant. It is the first time this core component of Toyota’s hybrid electric powertrains has been manufactured outside Asia. The transaxle will be fitted to the new Corolla Hybrid, built at Toyota’s Burnaston factory in the UK, and the C-HR Hybrid, produced in Turkey. Volkswagen building first factory in China for cars based on new MEB electric platform

The electrification strategy of the Volkswagen Group China is rapidly gaining pace in the world’s biggest market for e-mobility. The Group’s first factory specifically designed for the electric MEB platform is now commencing construction in Anting. The first model that will be produced in the factory of SAIC VOLKSWAGEN is a Volkswagen Brand SUV in 2020. Together with the FAW-Volkswagen factory in Foshan, which opened this summer, SAIC VOLKSWAGEN’s plant will begin to produce e-cars on the MEB platform directly after the first worldwide MEB-production starts in Zwickau, Germany.

Top Euro NCAP rating for the 2018 Mazda6

The new 2018 Mazda6 has been awarded the maximum five star rating by Euro NCAP in its latest series of tests. This is the first Mazda to achieve an overall five star rating under the new, more stringent 2018 Euro NCAP crashworthiness ratings.
