It might have only made its Paris motor show debut earlier this month, but the Audi A5 Coupe and Sportback are now available to order in the UK, with prices starting from £33,050 for the base-level diesel Coupe.
Three diesel engines will be on offer, with the 2.0-litre TDI ultra likely to be the big seller in the UK, with 187bhp accelerating it from 0-62mph in a brisk 7.7 seconds, but with a claimed 70.6mpg economy figure and 105g/km CO2 emissions. This version has front-wheel-drive and comes with a standard six-speed manual or optional seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch gearbox.
For greater performance, a 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine is available with 215bhp, shaving 1.5 seconds off its acceleration benchmark. Only available in Sport and S line trim, It comes with quattro four-wheel-drive and an S tronic gearbox as standard, with economy figures as low as 58.9mpg and 119g/km. The V6 can also be had with 282bhp mated to an eight-speed tiptronic automatic, however this option is exclusive to the Sportback in top S line trim.
The A5 line-up kicks off with the SE trim, but this is hardly ‘poverty spec’, with a long list of equipment including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Audi Parking System Plus and autonomous emergency braking. You’ll also now get LED daytime running lights as standard, along with xenon headlights and convenience features including a power tailgate for the Sportback.
Upgrade to Sport trim and there’s LED ambient lighting, sports seats and an MMI navigation system, while S line adds to the A5’s appeal with 18-inch alloy wheels, lowered suspension, LED front and rear lights with sweeping indicators and front seats trimmed in leather and Alcantara.
There’s also a substantial list of options to tempt buyers, from Audi’s TFT virtual cockpit display, to a Bang & Olufsen stereo system and adaptive cruise control which can take over control at speeds below 37mph in traffic jams.
Both the Coupe and Sportback are available to order now, with the Coupe expected to land in UK showrooms in time for Christmas and the Sportback following in February 2017.
